Machines operating in various fields and industries must have an operating gearbox for efficiency. These essential components increase the torque output and change motor speeds. The motor shaft links to one end of the gearbox, where different gears produce speed and torque per the gear ratio. Industries that use gearboxes include agriculture, construction, mining, and automotive equipment. Please take a look at some of the gearboxes used and their features.

Types of Industrial Gearboxes

  • Helical Gearbox

This gearbox is compact, consumes low power, and applies in various industrial applications, primarily heavy-duty operations. It is suitable for constructing rubber, cement, and plastics and using crushers, coolers, conveyors, and extruders in heavy-duty applications.

  • Coaxial Helical Inline Gearbox

This coaxial helical inline gearbox operates mainly in heavy-duty applications because of its quality and efficiency. Helical inline construction design allows for the maximization of load and transmission ratios.

The vital features of this gearbox are the curved teeth on the cone-shaped surface in the gearbox housing. They provide rotary motions between non-parallel shafts and for mining.

  • Skew Bevel Helical Gearbox

These gearboxes are notable for their rigid and robust gearbox housing structures, making them applicable in heavy-duty applications. They offer mechanical benefits when mounted on the appropriate motor shaft output. They allow customization according to the number of gears and teeth for specific uses.

  • Worm Reduction Gearboxes

Most heavy-duty operations rely on the worm reduction gearboxes. They serve in applications that require optimum speed reduction between non-intersecting crosses axis shafts. The worm wheel has a large diameter, and it meshes with the teeth on the peripheral zone of the gearbox. The worm rotates to move the wheel similarly. These gearboxes facilitate production in chemical, mineral, and fertilizer industries.

  • Planetary Gearbox

The planetary gearbox has a central sun gear with four planet gears surrounding it. These components hold jointly via other ring gears bearing internal teeth to promote equal power distribution through the gears. This setup facilitates high torque transmission inside a small space. These gearboxes are standard in 3D printing and robotics.
