Are you using the same commercial lighting system you used ten years ago or longer? If so, you may want to think about making some upgrades or improvements. This is an important consideration if you still have T8 socket lighting . Here are some good reasons to consider T5 soon.

What is the Difference?

When it comes to fluorescent lighting fixtures, size is very important. Years ago, most lighting was T12 or T8, and this served many companies well. However, when T5 was developed, it was a big improvement.

Size

T5 is not as big as T8 or T12 lighting. For example, a T8 socket uses a bulb which is one inch in diameter, but a T5 diameter is five eights of an inch. In some cases, size may not be an issue, but if you have enclosed spaces (like an aquarium or display), you need something smaller.

More Light

Because T5 bulbs are smaller, you can install more lights per square foot. Some are available with high output bulbs. This gives you more light for your money. For instance, the T8 socket uses bulbs which are not as efficient as T5 bulbs.

Choices

You can buy T5 lighting in two-foot-long tubes. However, it is also available in longer lengths. Some fixtures are ready to use, and installation is simple. You only need to hang them and tap into an available power source.

Installing Your New T5 System

Do you currently operate a T8 socket lighting system? If so, you may not have to tear out all of your fixtures to install the new system. Contact your lighting professionals. They specialize in lighting, and you can buy T8 to T5 conversion sockets. This is known as retrofitting and can save you a lot of time, labor, and money.
